mgThe City Charter, Code of Ordinances, Land Development Code, and Comprehensive Plan set the parameters in which the City of Crescent City operates. Each section and document is a building block, beginning with the Charter that establishes the governing body and territorial limits, followed by the ordinances and codes that apply within the city limits and complimented by the plan for future land development.
The Documents
- City Charter covers the boundaries of the City government, including the authority granted to officials and charter officers.
- Code of Ordinances includes detail chapters of rules that apply within the city limits; topics ranging from the building code and utilities, to tree preservation and signage.
- Land Development Code establishes the day to day controls to ensure the development of Crescent City follows the approved Comprehensive Plan. The rules and operation of the City Boards, as well as regulations related to plan reviews and occupational licensing are covered.
- Comprehensive Plan is a document that sets the context for future growth and development in the City. Required by State statutes that specify its overall content and structure, the Comprehensive Plan consists of a series of interrelated chapters or elements analyzing the community’s future land use, transportation, parks and recreation, and other infrastructure and environmental issues, needs, challenges, and opportunities.
