SOLID WASTE COLLECTION INSIDE CITY LIMITS

Residential Services*

Residential solid waste collection services are paid for by the individual residents inside the city limits as part of their monthly utility bill. It includes twice a week household garbage pickup and once a week yard trash pickup.

This service is only provided to occupied, single family residential properties only.

Vacant properties, apartment complexes, commercial businesses, churches, civic clubs etc, please see “Commercial Services” explained below.

Recycling and Solid Waste Assessment: Residential recycling is a County service that is paid through an assessment on your annual property tax bill. Crescent City residents also pay the County’s solid waste assessment fee on their annual property tax bill for use of the County landfill to dispose of our waste.

Schedule: Crescent City has contracted with Waste Pro USA to provide the residential curbside collection services. The residential curbside collection schedule is as follows:

Holiday Schedule

Waste Pro recognizes the following holidays for its employees:
New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.

Should the holiday fall on a normal pick up day shown above, Waste Pro will pick up the following business day. For example, Thanksgiving Day falls on a Thursday, so residential garbage will be picked the Friday after Thanksgiving.

Commercial Services*

Commercial pick required a minimum of one time per week, Monday through Friday, between the hours of 7 am to 7 pm.

All commercial customers, including not for profit businesses, churches and civic organizations, are responsible for contracting with an approved solid waste collection service for the removal of their garbage and yard trash.

The day of the week shall be determined per the agreement with the commercial customer.

Vacant Property

Vacant property, including property with vacant housing, does not receive residential curbside service and the owner is responsible for removing his or her own yard trash.

Hazardous Waste and Construction Debris

Residential and Commercial businesses are responsible for proper disposal of hazardous materials and construction/demolition debris (even if the debris is from your home repair). These will not be picked up at the curb and it is unlawful to hide such waste in you cans or dumpsters.

The Putnam County landfill and the convenience center located on CR 308 west of town will take certain amounts of such waste from residents of Putnam County. Contact the County Department of Sanitation for details: (386) 329-0395.

REASONS WHY YOUR GARBAGE WAS NOT PICKED UP

Garbage

  • Garbage receptacle:
    • exceeds 32-gallon capacity
    • exceeds 50 pounds each
  • Garbage was not:
    • out by 7:00 AM
    • placed within 5 feet of the edge of the roadway
    • placed on the the non-addressed side of the property
    • deposited upon any vacant property.

Please note: White goods, carpet and furniture shall be picked up with your garbage.

Recycle

  • Recyclable materials were:
    • mixed with regular trash
    • not put out by 7:00 AM
    • not in an appropriate container
    • placed within 5 feet of the edge of the roadway
    • placed on the the non-addressed side of the property
    • deposited upon any vacant property.

Recyclable Materials include:

  • Newspaper
  • Magazines
  • Phone books
  • Tin or Bi-metal (Ferrous) Cans
  • Plastic Jugs or Bottles
  • Corrugated Cardboard
  • Aluminum Cans
  • Aerosol Cans

Vegetative Garden and Yard Trash

  • Yard trash:
    • was not out by 7:00 AM
    • placed within 5 feet of the edge of the roadway
    • placed on the the non-addressed side of the property
    • exceeds 4 ft. in length
    • exceeds 4 inches in diameter
    • exceeds 50 pounds
    • deposited upon any vacant property.
    • that is not part of normal yard maintenance (i.e. land clearing, tree removal, land development, building demolition, or home improvement)
    • such as grass clippings, leaves, or pine needles need to be containerized (i.e. put in a receptacle or plastic bag)
    • is contaminated with other debris (lumber, stone, garbage, paper, etc.)

Tires:
Not part of your normal pick up. They can be brought to the Putnam County Landfill.

Construction Debris:
Will not be collected curbside (i.e. plywood, boards, sheet rock, cabinets, etc.)

Waste Pro does provide free estimates & charge services for large yard waste and trash piles that exceed the normal pickup limits
