PUBLIC NOTICE
REGARDING HURRICANE MILTON
Governor DeSantis has declared a State of Emergency specific to Hurricane Milton. The Crescent City Commission has declared a local State of Emergency for the community.
Putnam County Government has activated the Emergency Operations Center. The public can gather more information on the afternoon of Tuesday, October 8th by contacting the center at: (386) 329-1504.
For this major storm event:
- An emergency shelter will be open at Middleton Burney School beginning at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, October 8
- An animal shelter will be open at Ochwilla Elementary School.
- Sandbags are available at 145 W. Washington Street – Hawthorne or Jonas Road – Crescent City. Self-serve, please bring your shovel.
- Garbage and recycle collection schedule to be determined.
- After the storm event, do not pick up debris without first looking for downed power lines.
- If possible, please avoid driving during the storm. There are roadways that will not be undrivable.
- Please secure objects that could fly during the storm event including yard signs.
- Public Safety personnel will not operate emergency vehicles until it is safe to drive.
