FIRE CHIEF – City of Crescent City

The City of Crescent City, Florida, is recruiting its next Fire Chief. This position is becoming available with the upcoming retirement of its long-serving Fire Chief. The current Fire Chief serves on a part-time basis.

The Fire Chief manages, directs, and coordinates all administrative, operational, and fiscal aspects of the Fire Department and ensures the protection of lives and property within the City from all fire, rescue, emergency services, and emergency management activities while exercising responsibility for enforcement of federal, state, and local laws, codes and ordinances relating to public safety. Work is performed with considerable independence and latitude in the conduct of fire operations under the executive direction of the City Manager. 

Preferred requirements include an associate’s degree in Fire Science/Service or a related field. Ten (10) years’ experience in fire service with at least five (5) years of supervisory experience commensurate to duty. Must possess and maintain a current and valid Florida Driver’s License, Florida Certificate of Compliance as a Fire Officer 2 (Fire Officer 3 required by the end of the first year of employment), and EVOC.

The selected candidate must live in or near Crescent City and pass a background check.
