Alert: Hurrican Milton

As the storm moves in this evening:

Please try to stay off the streets until the storm passes through. Should you need to go out, be extremely cautious of downed limbs, trees, standing water and power lines. According to FPL all downed lines should be treated as a live wire, which has the potential to cause fatalities.

There is a strong possibility that we will have power outages. FPL has brought teams into all the storm covered areas to help with restoration. Should you have an outage and need information, you can download the FPL mobile app by texting “app” to myfpl (69375). Additionally, the FPL power tracker interactive map that lets customers view outages and restoration information for their area can be accessed at http://www.fpl.maps.com. FPL customer information and resources can be accessed at https://www.fpl.com/storm.html.

Flooding in low lying areas is expected. If you have flooding concerns, the shelter at Middleton Burney Elementary School is open. Please bring your ID for admittance and try to get to the shelter as soon as possible.

Garbage collection has been suspended for Thursday, October 10. Waste Pro hopes to resume pick-up on Friday. Please DO NOT put out garbage until the storm has passed.

In our most recent EOC update, it was stated storm conditions might be in the area until approximately 5:00 pm Thursday afternoon. Should limbs or trees block the streets, our Public Works staff will be out to clear roads as soon as it is safe. Should you know of a tree or limb down, please call it into our office at 386-698-2525 and it should be directed to our after-hours service.  If you can’t get through, please report it to the Emergency Operations Office 386-329-1904, the Sheriff’s Office dispatch line 386-329-0800 or if it is an emergency call 911. You can also call Mayor Michele’s cell phone at 386-559-4563 or Michael, the Interim City Manager at 386-227-2568.

For the most up-to-date information, please go to the Putnam County Emergency Operations facebook page, the EOC Dashboard or call the EOC Call Center at 386-329-1904.
